“Help Me!”

Our Monday night discipleship groups were in the middle of discussion when a young man walked in, tears streaming, crying for help. “I needed help, I knew you guys were here, and I didn’t know where else to go,” were his words afterward. We took time to pray with him, and he is now in regular discipleship with us working towards the freedom and healing that Jesus paid for.

Word is spreading about how Jesus is changing lives here in our little area of influence. People are getting saved, marriages are being restored, and addictions are being overcome. Last year we had 2 men walking through discipleship with us. Today there are 26 men and women with 2 co-leaders assisting us in the work. Praise the Lord!

Our work in the schools with Minding the Gap is ramping up for the fall. We have spent the summer focusing on organizational health, recruiting, fund-raising, and more. Now it’s time to put all of that to use. We are headed back into five schools where we’ve been able to reach over a thousand kids with the hope of Jesus so far. Recently Principal Hoard, who has seen the most significant change in her school Compass Elementary, was given an opportunity to speak at a national gathering in D.C. to talk about what caused that change. She has been consistently open with attributing this change to Jesus and community partnership.

One week after Jesus received the credit for the school’s dramatic transformation, the superintendent over our district was fired for financial mismanagement and we are having to work with a new interim superintendent. Community focus has shifted from hope to anger and fear. As always, spiritual warfare is present. As always, Jesus is and will be victorious.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership. We cannot wait to see you receive your reward for the way you have helped us, and we pray that even now you feel the Lord’s pleasure over your sacrifices of love.
