District fraud. Principal’s salvation.
“You have changed my belief in Jesus Christ.”
The public proclamation came from principal Dana who previously told us that while she was not hostile to Christianity, she had her doubts about Jesus and was insecure about bringing a Bible club into her school last year. After a year of seeing kids changed by the Gospel and experiencing first hand the presence of God through prayer, she made this statement at Minding The Gap’s kickoff event this fall.
Victories like this are so encouraging. Especially when it is in the face of severe difficulties like those we are facing in the Hickman Mills district this year. Recent exposure of the mismanagement of finances as well as the firing of a superintendent have caused staff and students alike to begin the school year anxious. Programs are being cut. Jobs are being cut. The district is millions of dollars in debt and wondering how to not close entirely.
However, we are convinced that it is in darkness that the light of Jesus shines the brightest. Our commitment as missionaries in Minding The Gap is to work for both the spiritual and physical good of the community. But our strong conviction is that even if all else fails, if we have reflected God’s image and provided an anchor of hope through Jesus these last years, then we have succeeded no matter what happens.
Prayer Points:
Would you praise God with us for the work He is doing in principal Dana and pray for her continued journey with Jesus?
Would you pray for a miraculous turnaround in the Hickman Mills district that points to God’s intervention?
Would you pray that more staff and students are saved?
