How is success measured in the Kingdom of God?

It’s a question we find ourselves asking regularly. This is especially true when facing obstacles or disappointments. Sometimes we find ourselves asking, “Are we supposed to be here? Are we doing this missions thing right?” Each time we come back to the truth that obedience to Jesus out of love for Jesus is what matters and find ourselves believing that God has us continuing the work of evangelism, discipleship, and prayer in Kansas City.

Then we usually end up asking, “But why Kansas City instead of another country, state, or city where this work is also needed?” When it comes down to it, we have no other answer than that we’ve been led here by our Master. This gives us courage to continue when missing family and friends. Seeing the fruit of our time here does as well.

This past year has been filled with things to rejoice over. Despite increasing pressure against the presence of Jesus in the public schools, we’ve now seen over 1,000 kids reached with His love in spiritual and practical ways. Praise Jesus! Additionally, 30 men and women entered a variety of Pure Desire discipleship groups, and the movement towards relationally healthy churches is continuing to grow in the area. One prominent church member who would never be suspected of being stuck in sexual addiction stated that for the first time in 13 years, he’s not drowning in the struggle.

We are full of hope for the coming year. Minding The Gap continues to see open doors for the gospel to reach the lost with growing community involvement and several more churches have expressed interest in seeing Pure Desire groups set up in their congregations.

To say that we are grateful for the ways that you have played a part in this story is an understatement. We could never have done this alone. Your love expressed through prayer, financial partnership, encouragement, time, and energy have been greatly felt. Thank the Lord with us for what He has done! It is your story too.
