A Six Year Recap
Six years of full-time ministry. Six April news updates sent out to partners. Six summaries of reflection that glorify Jesus.
April 2021 We were only three months into fundraising and 61% funded. Our goal was to be fully funded within the following three months, and we were! We were starting Minding The Gap’s afterschool program over long distance meetings with the leadership team.
April 2022 We announced the beautiful birth of our fourth child. We were working with Christians from around the world as they took a deep dive into how a life fueled by prayer impacts our personal relationship with God and the way we represent Him through IHOPKC’s internship program. We were actively serving two schools with Minding The Gap.
April 2023 We were in the thick of writing curriculum for Minding The Gap’s afterschool Bible club while serving three schools. We were entering a spring of fasting for direction and breakthrough in our walk with Jesus while continuing to lead discipleship groups through IHOPKC.
April 2024 We were one month out from the birth of our fifth child, and heavily weighed down by the sexual scandal at IHOPKC. We were wrestling with the desire to run from the conflict, while sensing God’s call to stay put for the sake of many in the community trapped by their own sexual brokenness, prompting Tim to begin a Pure Desire group. We expanded Minding The Gap to four schools.
April 2025 We were four months into our second Pure Desire group, having grown from 2 men the first year to 11 men and 4 women the second year! We also finalized the editing of all the afterschool Bible club curriculum and prepped it for publication.
April 2026 We are four months into our third men’s Pure Desire group, having grown to 40 men spanning two cities. We just celebrated the completion of our first women’s Pure Desire group and are resting before starting again late summer. Minding The Gap is wrapping up the school year but ramping up their new summer program initiatives to meet these underprivileged kids through day camps and volunteer opportunities.
REFLECTION
Through the excitement of new seasons, the weariness of the predictable, the grind of deadlines, the elation of milestones, and the raw emotions involved in walking through muck with brothers and sisters as they pursue Christ, it is easy to lose site of God’s storyline to reconcile man to Himself and our part to play. By zooming out and stepping back, we remember His mercy. Thank you for remembering God’s sovereignty with us through this “April recap”, and for playing such a significant role in these last six years.
PRAYER TEXT
We have a weekly prayer text that goes out to those committed to praying for us. If you would like to receive these texts, let us know and you’ll be added.
